VERSICHERUNG is the yippy® network's stage for insurance in the German-speaking world. Insurance decides what a broken leg, a burst pipe or a long life actually costs a household, yet most people only meet it as fine print and a sales call. We report it as what it actually is: a system worth understanding before you sign anything, not after. That is true whether the policy in question is health cover chosen at twenty, or a pension plan that will not pay out for another forty years.
Good cover is not the longest policy. It is the one you understand.
What VERSICHERUNG covers
The beats align with the decisions that people in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland actually face, in roughly the order life presents them:
- Cover that matters. Health, liability, disability and household insurance: which risks genuinely deserve a monthly premium, and which are better covered by simply having enough savings.
- Pensions and provision. The state, company and private layers of retirement, and how the Intelligence Age is already changing the maths behind work and old age.
- Risk, made readable. What an actuary sees when they look at a life, translated into language a household can actually use.
- The market itself. Insurers, tariffs and reforms across DACH, reported without a commission riding along.
How we keep it honest
VERSICHERUNG sells no policies and takes no commission on what it recommends. Every piece is editorially reviewed, signed and dated, and a correction goes up in the open the moment we get something wrong. Where a rule differs between Germany, Austria and Switzerland, we say so plainly instead of averaging three systems into one convenient answer that fits none of them. None of this is a promise that every answer is simple: insurance is genuinely complicated in places, and VERSICHERUNG says so rather than pretending otherwise.
Built for three countries, not one
Germany, Austria and Switzerland share a language but not a rulebook: three health systems, three pension architectures, three sets of tariffs. A German gesetzliche Krankenversicherung and Switzerland's system of private insurers, for instance, work on entirely different logic, even though both get called "health insurance" in English. The paperwork looks different too, and a form that works in Berlin is not always the right one in Zurich or Vienna. VERSICHERUNG treats DACH as three markets that happen to read the same sentences, and says which country a rule applies to before it says anything else.
